FAMILY LAW

Separation and divorce are not easy even under the best of circumstances. There are a growing number of divorcing parents that do so with emphasis on reducing and/or eliminating their conflict (at times after some angst and perhaps a court hearing). These couples represent the majority of those who come to S.O.S.

We also help those who are at a difficult point, some of whom are referred by attorneys, and who have children and perhaps safety issues requiring emergency hearings. We often work with a referring attorney to provide on-going consultation, review of papers and even representation in court for that “limited” issue.

There are those divorces that are bitter, with assets and funds to fight over. Private mediation services and collaborative law attorneys are the avenues many couples are now taking to minimize or avoid court hearings and costly litigation. We can help prepare your disclosure papers and guide you to those resources.

FAMILY LAW RATES: Our basic fee to prepare your amicable divorce is $1000* (one-half due at the beginning and one-half due at the end). As of 1/2016 the court filing fee is $435 (unless you qualify for a court fee waiver). Court fees increase on occasion and are posted on the Court’s website at:
